The Stoop family comprises Tim and Angi, their daughter Tara and son Jason who share a flat in London and work in the big smoke. We must not forget our rather affectionate Springer Spaniel, Badger, who prefers chasing rabbits to hanging around and admiring our beautiful view. Both Tara and Jason love to escape from the city life to return home to Huish Moor whenever they can .

Whilst we spent many happy years bringing up our children in the South East, the pressures of commuting to London from the country finally got to Tim and as we both wished to escape the rat race we looked around for our idyllic retreat.. Where better to do this than in the beautiful countryside of North Devon? Tim had been fishing the North Devon rivers since his teenage years and could think of no more suitable place to settle and start a fishing guiding business. Angi has worked all her life in the world of catering and hospitality so it made it made perfect sense to maximise our skills to start a new life at Huish Moor.

During the Summer of 1999 we found Huish Moor which had the potential to provide us with all we needed to fulfil our dream of a bed and breakfast and self-catering business. With two barns to convert major structural and rebuilding work was needed.. Many of our friends thought us completely mad to take on such a task, but undaunted we rolled up our sleeves and set to. After a great deal of hard work and a degree of pride, we completed the project just over a year later.

Our aim has always been to offer our guests a high standard of accommodation whilst at the same time providing a relaxed haven for those like ourselves who want to get away from the pressures of life. We feel we have achieved this and hope you will enjoy Huish Moor as much as we do.
