Huish Moor is in an ideal location to appreciate many of the attractions of North Devon. Nearby are the quaint seaside villages of Instow and Appledore the old market towns of Barnstaple and Bideford which still have farmers produce markets on given days. For the more adventurous that want to do more there is Skern Lodge near Westward Ho! that provides a wide range of water sports and other activities such as surfing, canoeing, surfing, raft racing, abseiling, and surf- skiing.

If the beach is not for you there are a wide number of gardens in the local area. RHS Rosemoor, Clovelly Court, Docton Mill & Gardens, Tapeley Park, Marwood Hill, Arlington Court and Hartland Abbey are all unique experiences. An hour and a half away are the Eden Project Bio-domes; built for the millennium these domes contain tropical and temperate climates.

If you fancy a more natural view of nature, Exmoor National Park, with its wide expanses of rolling moorland, and the Tarka Trail, a converted disused railway line that provides 180 miles of walking and cycle path, allow you to see the real Devon. The Tarka Trail has access from the nearby village of Instow and is within cycling distance of Huish Moor. Also from Bideford you can catch the Oldenburg to Lundy Island where you will have a chance to see Seals and possibly Dolphins and Puffins at the right time of year and enjoy an unspoilt environment.

For the children there are a number of adventure parks in the area. Amongst these are the ever popular Big Sheep and Milky Way that feature farm animals, demonstrations of farming practices and have indoor adventure zones.

Finally for the more sporty the local riding centre, Folly Foot, offers several riding courses, and at Westward Ho! we have England's oldest seaside links course, The Royal North Devon Golf Club. Alternatively if you just want to potter, Barnstaple runs Pannier Markets on certain days where you can spend hours just browsing.
